Expanse

I’m watching The Expanse series on prime, for the second time. The first time I did I watched all the way to season 6, episode 5 out of 6, and since I didn’t want to have to wait in a cliffhanger, I skipped the sixth, giving time for release time.

But it never happened, seems like that’s the end of the season, and of the series. So, as I didn’t want it to be over, and I had some gaps in the story that I wanted to comprehend a bit better, I decided to play it again, to remember what had happened and how it all drove to the final chapter.

Truth is, I’m looking desperately for a reason, anywhere, to make it officially my favorite piece of syfy, above Lord of The Rings, Matrix, or StarWars. I’m eager for it, but not decided yet.

Really, I just want an excuse, ’cause it’s awesome, but I don’t feel quite right jumping the line above the other fictions I mentioned. I have a theory on why is this. There’s something about time and aging, maturation, that feels stronger for those other series I’ve been a fan for longer. As if, all other factors aside, the older the work is, the more value it has, just for the sake of age.

I don’t know if that makes much sense, I mean, I feel like it does, but perhaps it’s just me being sentimental.

Nonetheless, the series is indeed awesome, I love how situations seem realistic (not just the “science” aspect of science fiction, but social, economic, and political events too) and characters are complex (as in, they have human feelings, virtues and defects, and there’s not always a clear picture of who the villain is, as there’s evil actions in the heroes, and conviction of an actual good cause on the evil guys).

Special effects are also nice, though I’ve been saying: the older I get, the less I care about fx and the more I’m interested in the story, plot wise.

Also, I love the series’ intro, how they give away small details (and possibly spoilers) without explaining it, just showing parts of the story that you have to decipher. You have to pay attention, and keep watching, as it evolves to reflect some of the events that are happening on the series, to figure it all out. Blink and you miss it!

If you’re into syfy, do yourself a favor and watch it.

Dort liegen sie zu zweit

Ich warte nur auf dich
